The U. S. Democratic Party makes up one of two parties recognized in the United States. The other party is the Republican Party and they are the other half of this political group. The Democratic Party is one of the oldest around and has stood the test of time. 72 million voters are registered as Democrat and this is around 35% of people that live in the United States.

The Democrats originated in the 1790’s from an Anti Federalist group that opposed the actions of Alexander Hamilton. The party was very interested in the law adhering strictly to the Constitution and this is where they got their united front. When the American Civil War broke out, the Democrats were split in several different directions and some of them wanted peace, some of the Democrats were for the war, and some of the Democrats formed their own party. This split the Democratic Party in many different ways and the Republican Party took advantage of this for some time.

The Democratic Party is the largest party in the United States at the present time. They are often in favor of unions, farmers, and laborers which draws a very big appeal to many people. The Party has also promoted programs that help the poor and passed Acts to help combat this problem. The Democratic National Committee is the group that is responsible for all campaigning activity. The Democratic National Committee is most involved in the campaigning activity and less involved in policies that involve the public.

The Democrats are also known for drawing in a variety of people that share the same liberal views of the Democratic Party. Many Democrats are pro choice and this can attract many women to become part of this Party. Labor Unions make up a big part of the Democratic Party as their rights are often firmly represented by the Democrats. The working class also represents the Democratic Party and they are often voted for within this party.

Minorities have always been attracted to the Democratic Party and there are many issues that pertain to minorities and the Democrats seem to represent this party very well. Gay Americans are also very fond of the Democrats as their rights are often accurately represented in the party.

The U.S. Democratic Party is a force that will be around for many years to come. They are a very strong presence in the United States and they will represent a vast variety of people for a very long time.
